FORD HEIGHTS, Ill. — A Cook County Sheriff’s Police officer is being praised for his quick, life-saving actions after he helped a choking driver last month.

According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, Officer Zachary Finn responded when a driver began choking and was unable to breathe. Finn immediately performed the Heimlich maneuver, successfully dislodging the obstruction.

Paramedics evaluated the woman following the incident, but she declined further medical treatment and was able to safely drive away.

The Sheriff’s Office commended Officer Finn for his decisive response. “His quick thinking and calm under pressure prevented what could have been a tragic outcome,” the agency said.
