This is the shocking moment a mechanic's head was struck by a falling tricycle cargo bed.

CCTV footage shows the worker squatting next to the red vehicle when the rear bed of the three-wheeler suddenly came loose and dropped onto him in Yunnan, China.

He can be heard crying out in pain upon impact before lifting the metal frame to free himself, as his worried colleagues rushed over to help on October 18.

The labourer then stood up, clutching his neck and grimacing as he moved away from the tricycle.

Local media reported that the injured worker required three stitches above his eyebrow.

The mechanic said: 'This was the first time something like this had happened to me in over a decade of repairing vehicles. I'm lucky it didn't hit my head directly, if it had, I could have died.'
