An ancient Hindu temple in India was illuminated in red for Dyslexia Awareness Month.

Footage shows the sacred Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, glowing crimson on October 26 to mark the occasion in Bodh Gaya.

Officials from the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee said: 'This noble effort, spearheaded by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Ministry of Culture, represents compassion, understanding, and a shared responsibility to build a more inclusive and empathetic society.

'It highlights the urgent need to support children with learning differences through inclusive educational practices.'

Red, long linked to correction marks, has been adopted by dyslexia advocates to symbolise awareness and empowerment.

Dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects a person's ability to read, write, and spell, despite normal intelligence and vision. It is caused by differences in how the brain processes language and can be managed effectively through early diagnosis and specialised teaching support.
