China: Chinses coffee machine exporters brew success in emerging markets
Storyline: Chinses coffee machine exporters brew success in emerging markets [Voice_over] Chinese factories that make coffee machines are buzzing with activity these days. With the year-end shopping season fast approaching, they're busy making machines for clients in the West, but manufacturers say demand has also been seeping in from emerging markets. One coffee machine maker in south China's Guangdong Province said while orders from Europe and America have typically fueled the industry, a new trend is taking hold. [Sound_bite] Yu Yanfang, head of overseas markets, coffee machine manufacturer: "We are rushing to fill orders for the Christmas season. Particularly in Southeast Asian markets, our sales have increased by 30 percent. Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia are all fast-growing regions in terms of sales. In fact, these emerging markets now make up half of our total exports." [Voice_over] To keep up with the booming demand, some coffee machine makers are upgrading their equipment. This coffee machine producer in the region says they're now using automated machinery to shorten delivery time. [Sound_bite] Tan Yu, Overseas Marketing Director, coffee machine company: "Compared to the same period of last year, sales of our pressurized coffee machines have grown by approximately 40 percent in Latin America. We have introduced many automated machines, reducing the delivery time from 45 days to 30 days now." [Voice_over] According to customs data from Foshan City, a coffee machine manufacturing hub in Guangdong Province, about 364 million U.S. dollars worth of coffee machines were exported in the first eight months of the year, an 8.8 percent increase from the same period last year.
