Man seriously injured in Birmingham car vs pedestrian as crews work to save his life

A male pedestrian is fighting for his life after being struck by a car at the junction of Sandon Road and City Road in Birmingham. Emergency services rushed to the scene and provided life support before transporting the victim to the hospital.

West Midlands Police, Fire and Ambulance Service on the scene of the serious road traffic collision between a male pedestrian and a car on the junction of Sandon Road and City Road in Birmingham on Wednesday 29 Oct afternoon.

Crews were seen giving life support to the victim who had been hit by a female driver who stopped to help police with the investigation.

The victim was taken to hospital on blue lights and the driver was checked over but discharged at the scene.

West Midlands Police said in a statement: 'We've been called to a collision involving a car and pedestrian near the junction of City Road and Sandon Road, Birmingham.

'It happened at just after 1.10pm today (29 October) and a man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

'The driver remained at the scene and is helping with our enquiries.

'A cordon is currently in place and anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or call 101, quote log 2381 of 29/10/25.'

A large cordon remains in place along the usually busy road towards the Edgbaston area of the city.

West Midlands Ambulance sent 'Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team responded to the scene.'

A spokeswoman said: 'A pedestrian received advanced trauma care by West Midlands Ambulance Service following a serious RTC in Edgbaston, Birmingham this afternoon.

'The service received multiple 999 calls reporting a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of City Road and Sandon Road, Edgbaston at 1.11pm today (Wednesday). 

'Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team responded to the scene.

'A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a pedestrian, a man, in a critical condition.
 
'The team of ambulance staff worked rapidly, with support from emergency service colleagues, to administer advanced life support and trauma care to the man.

‘He was then conveyed by ambulance on blue lights and sirens to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency trauma care.'
