A couple were arrested for allegedly running an underage brothel from a hotel in Bangkok.

Thanat, 58, and his wife Korawan, 37, reportedly coerced the runaway minors into having sex with clients.

They were detained following police investigations into a suspected human trafficking operation in the Bang Khae district on October 28.

Footage shows police storming the hotel, where they found suspected teenage prostitutes waiting for customers.

They seized from the premises boxes of contraceptives, antifungal vaginal tablets, pregnancy test kits, condoms, accounting books, a bankbook, two phones, and two land title deeds.

Police said the raid stemmed from months-long investigations into a Facebook page allegedly advertising sex with underage girls.

Undercover agents called the couple in charge, who then presented a 'catalogue' of girls through the LINE messaging application.

The services were priced at 1,500 baht (35 GBP) for two hour sessions, with the couple earning a 300 baht (7 GBP) cut.

Police then met with the girls, who claimed they were being forced into the sex trade. They alleged that the couple had targetted girls who ran away from home by offering them a place to stay, before reportedly pimping them out to other hotel guests.

Seven girls under 18 years old were rescued from the suspected prostitution ring.

Police Colonel Korkiat Wuthijumnong, superintendent of Anti-Trafficking in Persons Sub-Division 1, said: ‘Police gathered evidence, including financial transactions showing that Korawan received three money transfers from the undercover agent. There are also videos of the victims' testimonies.

‘The evidence led to the rescue of other girls who were victims of human trafficking and to the arrest of both suspects, who will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.'

The couple face charges of 'human trafficking for prostitution, procuring or enticing individuals to engage in prostitution, transporting persons for indecent acts, and coercing or encouraging minors to behave inappropriately'.
