Spain: Young Man Carries Elder Across Flooded Plaza As Sevilla Battles Record Storm
Seville, Spain - October 29, 2025 Video filmed by X user Blanca shows a dramatic rescue around 2:50 PM on October 29, 2025, as a DANA-driven storm dumped over 115 mm of rain and turned central streets into thigh-deep torrents. The clip, shot from a balcony near Calle Feria or the Triana district, captures a young man in a black jacket carrying an elderly neighbor piggyback-style through contaminated floodwater. No injuries were reported in this specific incident; the older man, believed to be in his 70s, was carried past a stalled sedan and floating debris. Subtitles in the clip include the line "you're in for it, dude," which lightened the moment amid the danger. The video highlights widespread scenes of submerged vehicles, uprooted awnings, and scattered cafe furniture as water rose 30–50 cm in minutes. La Macarena and other low areas suffered severe flooding, with hospitals flooded and schools closed early. Firefighters and Proteccion Civil praised such neighborly efforts, which supplemented official rescues including 20+ vehicle extractions that afternoon. The clip drew more than 5,000 likes and was shared to outlets such as EL PAIS and Cadena SER, sparking debate but underscoring Sevilla's spirit of "mutual aid."
