This is the heroic moment a quick-thinking shop owner extinguished flames on a passing truck.

CCTV footage shows the man and his wife standing outside their store when they noticed the lorry's cargo bed catching fire as it passed along Baiyun First Road in Guangdong, China.

The heavy goods vehicle, which was carrying assorted merchandise, quickly pulled over to the roadside, prompting the shop owner to rush inside his store and return with two fire extinguishers on October 20.

He can be seen spraying the flames as thick smoke billows into the air, working to bring the blaze under control.

The fire was eventually extinguished, and the man used a water hose to cool down the vehicle to prevent it from reigniting.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
