A Dutchman is facing deportation from Kenya after allegedly attacking his girlfriend and verbally harassing police officers.

Elwin Ter Horst reportedly assaulted Angela Atieno Onduru, 32, after taking cocaine at their rented beachside cottage in Kwale County on October 28.

Staff and security guards rescued the injured woman when they heard screams coming from the couple's room. They rushed her to a hospital and called the police as Elwin locked himself inside.

Officers spent several hours negotiating with the drug-addled Dutchman before he opened the door. He was arrested and dragged to the police station.

Cops collected from the scene three grammes of a white substance believed to be cocaine. The suspected narcotics were sent to the Government Chemist for testing.

Despite being detained, Elwin was allowed to freely roam the holding area at the Diani Police Station.

The uncuffed suspect was seen screaming at a police officer before blowing his nose, spraying snot at the shocked officer.

He said: 'You shut the f**k up. Go there. I don't want to see your ugly face anymore. I'm asking you to leave right now. Get out of my office, f***er. Leave.'

Officials said Elwin was detained while intoxicated and was due to face charges of assault, malicious damage to property, creating a disturbance in a police building, and possession of narcotics, before authorities discovered that his passport had expired.

Elwin has since apologised, claiming he was suffering from psychosis and extreme stress, and pleaded to be allowed to stay in the country.
