Nobel Prize-Winning Author Wole Soyinka Says U.S. Revoked His Visa. Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka announced that the U.S. has revoked his non-immigrant visa issued last year. The Nigerian author, aged 91, was informed by the U.S. Consulate in Lagos to reapply if he wishes to visit again. Soyinka previously renounced his U.S. residency in 2016 as a protest against President Trump’s election. He has had regular teaching roles at U.S. Ivy League universities since winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986. Soyinka showed reporters a letter dated October 23 stating "additional information" led to the visa’s cancellation. He confirmed he was banned from the U.S. and sarcastically invited people to visit him in Nigeria instead. The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria had no immediate comment on Soyinka's visa revocation. Earlier this year, the U.S. Embassy announced a reduction in the validity of non-immigrant visas for Nigerians. Instructions: THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
