CCTV footage shows the labourer sitting on top of the lorry while fastening the hose used to clean a cesspool in Samut Sakhon, Thailand.

After securing the tube, he stood up and picked up another pipe, but as he turned towards the tank's opening, it suddenly exploded on October 25.

The blast tore his shirt apart and splattered faeces across his face and body.

The impact knocked him to the ground, leaving him momentarily dazed as he struggled to open his eyes and wiped the waste from his skin.

His colleagues rushed over to help extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to the vehicle.

The worker reportedly did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

Locals speculated that the explosion may have been caused by a gas build-up from the waste or poor maintenance of the old tank.
