A harrowing video filmed by Distrito Este Limpio on October 29 and shared by @Sevillasucia highlights severe flash flooding across Seville during torrential rain, using grim imagery to ridicule the mayor’s handling of city infrastructure.

The footage begins with a close-up of a graffiti-stained wall beside a flooded walkway where six to eight inches of brown water surge past. Two large rats struggle desperately to climb the wall, their tails thrashing as trash and leaves swirl around them.

The camera then shifts to a second-story window view overlooking a tree-lined street in Distrito Este, near Avenida de las Ciencias. One to two feet of muddy water covers the road beneath relentless rain. Willow branches hang heavy, trash bins and fences sit partly submerged, a delivery van flashes its hazard lights, and a dark car floats slowly by.

Later shots reveal the lifeless bodies of rats drifting among bottles, sticks, and cardboard in the current. One carcass catches against a tree trunk while others are carried downstream. The water continues to rise, spilling across lawns and sidewalks as the storm worsens.

The video closes with dark irony: “These rats didn’t have the same luck. RIP.”
