Hang glider pilot stuck in 100ft tall tree rescued in Italy
A hang glider pilot stuck in a 100ft tall tree was rescued in Italy.
The aviation enthusiast reportedly became stranded after an unsuccessful landing attempt near the Monte Cucco launch area in the province of Perugia.
The glider became tangled in a beech tree, leaving the pilot suspended in the air with a leg injury around 4:30 pm on October 28.
Footage shows firefighters from Gubbio and Perugia, along with the Speleo Alpino Fluviale team, making their way to the site.
Additional reinforcements arrived from Ancona and Fabriano to assist with the operation.
A helicopter was reportedly deployed from Tuscany but could not be used due to darkness. Emergency responders then used climbing equipment to secure the pilot and carefully lower him to the ground.
The hang glider pilot was safely rescued around 9 pm and handed over to medical personnel for treatment following the incident.
