[Voiceover] A Chinese company has recently produced the world's largest lab-grown rough diamond, certificated by the IGI, the International Gemological Institute. The 156-carat single crystal diamond is bigger than the previous record holder which was 150 carats. At the company that produced the diamond in central China's Henan province, 400 cubic presses are humming with activity, producing diamonds by mimicking how they're made in nature. [Soundbite] Chen Yanan, Project director, Henan Liliang Diamond Co., Ltd.: "The process essentially replicates the high-temperature, high-pressure growth environment of natural diamonds. The temperature inside the cultivation capsule can reach 1,300 to 1,500 degrees Celsius, with pressure between 5 to 7 GPa. This drastically compresses the natural diamond formation timeline, shortening it to just 7 to 15 days." [Voiceover] Like natural diamonds, large single-crystal lab-grown diamonds have superior semiconducting properties which paves the way for their use in industries like electronics and information technology.
