DAMASCUS, SYRIA (NOV. 1, 2025: A building in the Yarmouk Camp in Damascus, Syria, that was previously damaged in bombings by the ousted regime, collapsed on Saturday, Nov. 1.
The four-story building, located in southern Damascus, gave way years after sustaining damage from earlier airstrikes.
Ambulances and civil defense teams were dispatched to the scene, and search-and-rescue operations were launched in the area.
Irfan Mohammed Abdullah, a resident of the building, said he had returned to Syria after years of displacement and had moved into the building after it was repaired.
Noticing cracks in the walls before the collapse, Abdullah said he managed to evacuate his family, stressing that the return of residents to damaged areas should be supervised by a dedicated committee.
