This is the amusing moment zoo animals were treated to carved pumpkins to celebrate Halloween.

Footage shows elephants and polar bears at Pairi Daiza Zoo in Cambron-Casteau, Belgium, enjoying the festive orange squash during the Halloween celebrations.

The elephants can be seen using their trunks to smash the pumpkin lanterns into pieces before happily munching on them.

In another clip, polar bears are spotted tucking into their seasonal snacks inside their enclosure.

The zoo said its Halloween Festival, themed 'The Garden of the 5 Wonders,' runs from October 18 to November 2.

Visitors can explore five themed worlds celebrating animals, nature, human creativity, minerals, and interactive experiences.

Animal caretakers have also prepared special Halloween-themed enrichments for the park's 7,500 residents, from pumpkins for elephants, hippos, and gorillas to meaty treats for the carnivores.

More than 1,000 pumpkins have been placed around the botanical park as decorations, along with life-sized animal skeletons, including a towering giraffe.

The festival also features tales from local folklore, mystical sea monster projections, and a new magic show inspired by Stranger Things.

Guests are encouraged to join in by dressing up, building scarecrows, and taking part in interactive dance events.

The zoo said: 'No horror, no gruesome creatures, just enchanting, poetic chills designed to delight visitors of all ages.'
