US, Los Angeles: Historic South-Central Sheared Fire Hydrant Creates Difficulties For LAFD

Los Angeles, United States - November 04, 2025 11/03/2025 11:57 pm GMT-0800 HISTORIC SOUTH-CENTRAL, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded to a sheared hydrant late Monday night at the intersection of 37th Street and Flower Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a hydrant had been damaged, sending water shooting into the air. The hydrant was found lying a few feet away on the sidewalk. A bumper, believed to belong to the vehicle that struck the hydrant, was discovered in the street. It appears the driver fled the scene after the incident. Los Angeles Police Department officers were requested to assist with the crash investigation, and the fire department asked that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power respond to shut off the hydrant.
