This is the adorable moment a baby swan appeared to share its food with koi fish in a pond.

Holidaymakers were strolling through a park when they spotted the grey cygnet surrounded by a school of hungry fish in Guangdong, China.

Footage shows the bird pecking pellets from a bucket and dropping them onto the edge of the pool, where a couple of large fish swam below on October 25.

The koi could be seen eagerly feeding underwater.

Experts say swans do not intentionally feed fish but instead moisten dry pellets by dipping them into the water to aid swallowing, inadvertently allowing fish to consume any excess food.

Marine biologist Chris Dahl explained: 'Swans need to moisten the pellets to help them swallow and digest the food, and as they do this, a few pellets inadvertently slip out of their beaks. Of course, koi aren't going to pass up a free meal, so they eagerly await any food that escapes the swans.'
