A helicopter crew rescued an injured hiker in the remote mountains of Spain.

The mountaineer sustained a foot injury, leaving him unable to continue his trek in a forested area northeast of Valencia.

Emergency teams from the Provincial Fire Consortium of Castellon, together with the specialised Mountain Rescue Unit, quickly responded to the incident.

Due to the rugged terrain, a Generalitat rescue aircraft was deployed to evacuate the injured trekker.

Footage shows rescuers securing the area and preparing for the helicopter evacuation on Saturday, November 1.

The aerial operation allowed the holidaymaker to be safely transported to a secure location for medical attention.

Authorities remind outdoor enthusiasts to stay alert and adhere to safety guidelines when navigating challenging environments to help reduce the risk of accidents.
