This is the dramatic moment locals were forced to take refuge on roofs amid severe flooding triggered by Typhoon Kalmaegi in the Philippines.

Footage shows distressed residents, including children, stranded on their house tops in Cebu under an overcast sky on November 4.

Vehicles were seen submerged in murky floodwaters as debris drifted through the inundated streets.

Kalmaegi, locally known as Tino, has killed at least 114 people and displaced hundreds of thousands across the country.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the storm dumped more than a month's worth of rain in just 24 hours in Southern Leyte and Cebu.

The freak weather system packed maximum sustained winds of 155 kph and gusts of up to 190 kph as it moved towards central Vietnam.
