The country’s drought problem has worsened significantly compared to last year, as water reserves continue to decline.

Athens, which is home to nearly half of Greece’s population, is experiencing particular strain as the water level in Lake Mornos, the city’s main water source, has dropped considerably.

Amateur photographer Panagiotis Panayiotopoulos said he has been photographing Lake Mornos since 2000 and has witnessed the changes in the lake over the years.

Panayiotopoulos said that in the early years, only a few rooftops of houses were visible above the lake, but now, due to the effects of drought, most of the village has reemerged.
