DUHOK, IRAQ - NOVEMBER 6, 2025: Two women kidnapped by the ISIS (Daesh) terrorist organization were rescued on Thursday after 11 years, bringing the total number of rescued Yazidis, an endogamous religious group in Iraq, to 3,593.

Hussein Qaidi, head of the Kidnapped Yazidi Rescue Office under the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Presidency, said at a press conference in Duhok, Iraq, that two Yazidi women aged 21 and 26 who had been held captive by ISIS (Daesh) for 11 years were rescued as a result of ongoing efforts.

He added that the women had been repeatedly subjected to torture and sold multiple times.

Qaidi said the total number of rescued Yazidis has reached 3,593, while around 2,500 more are still missing.

The Iraqi official stressed that efforts are still underway to locate the remaining missing Yazidis.

In August 2014, the ISIS (Daesh) terrorists captured the Sinjar district of Iraq's Mosul province, home to the Yazidi community, abducting 6,417 Yazidis and killing many more.
