US, Los Angeles: Lincoln Heights Pursuit Suspect Rescued From 30 Foot Deep Construction Shaft Part 2
Los Angeles, United States - November 07, 2025 11/06/2025 09:33 pm GMT-0800 LINCOLN HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A stolen vehicle pursuit ended in a dramatic rescue Thursday night after the suspect fell into a 30-foot-deep shaft at a construction site in Lincoln Heights. Los Angeles police said the 27-year-old man tried to flee on foot following a pursuit when he plunged into the narrow, 4-foot-wide opening near North Sichel Street and the 5 Freeway shortly after 9:30 p.m. Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team responded to find the man trapped deep inside the vertical shaft. Using an aerial ladder as a high anchor, rescuers lowered rope wristlets to the suspect, directing him to secure them around his wrists before carefully hoisting him to safety. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, according to LAFD. Police have not released the suspect’s identity as the investigation continues.
