7. CARDINAL BALDASSARE REINA SPEAKING TO REPORTER (Italian) DENIZLI, TÜRKİYE - NOV. 7: Ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming visit to Türkiye, a Vatican delegation led by Cardinal Baldassare Reina, the Pope’s Vicar General, visited several sites in the western province of Denizli on Friday, Nov. 7.
The 38-member Vatican delegation of priests and nuns visited the Hierapolis Ancient City, where they toured the tomb and church of St. Philip, one of Jesus’ apostles.
Cardinal Baldassare Reina later visited Pamukkale’s travertine terraces and the ancient city of Laodicea, receiving briefings on its major archaeological sites.
According to the schedule shared by the Vatican Press Office, Pope Leo XIV is expected to visit Iznik on Nov. 28 to attend the ceremony marking the 1,700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, which holds a significant place in Christian history.
