Typhoon Kalmaegi made landfall in south-central Vietnam, bringing with it violent winds and torrential rain. With gusts reaching up to 150 kilometers per hour, the storm tore through coastal provinces, uprooting trees, toppling power lines, and damaging hundreds of houses. Many areas in Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, and Ninh Thuan were completely cut off as roads were flooded or buried under landslides. The powerful waves battered the shoreline, destroying fishing boats and inundating low-lying villages. In several towns, electricity and communication were completely disrupted, leaving residents struggling to contact their families. Authorities quickly mobilized rescue teams to evacuate people from dangerous zones and provide emergency supplies. Despite early warnings, the strength of Kalmaegi exceeded expectations, causing widespread devastation to crops, infrastructure, and local livelihoods. As the storm moved inland, it weakened slightly but continued to dump heavy rain, raising fears of flash floods and landslides in mountainous regions.
