China: Heavy snow hits north China, prompting emergency measures to ensure traffic, livestock safety
As light to heavy snow fell across provinces and autonomous regions in north China this Saturday, local authorities took active measures to ensure smooth traffic and the safety of livestock. On Saturday night, multiple areas in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, including Daqing City, Daxing'anling Prefecture, and Qiqihar City, issued yellow alerts for road icing, the lowest in China's red-orange-yellow alert system. Certain sections of the Harbin–Dalian and Harbin–Mudanjiang expressways were temporarily closed for safety. Heilongjiang's Hegang City has experienced snowfall since Saturday afternoon. Local departments worked in coordination to deploy snow removal vehicles in urban areas, especially on main roads, sidewalks, and around bus stops to ensure safe and smooth traffic. In Hulunbuir City of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, heavy snow began early Saturday morning. Transportation and urban management departments activated emergency plans, dispatching professionals and machines to speed up cleanup. Affected by a cold front, Altay and Tacheng cities in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have experienced snowfall and temperature drops since Wednesday, with some mountainous areas reporting blizzards. Local herders acted quickly to replenish forage to help their livestock through the harsh winter time. Shotlist: Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, northeast China – Nov 8-9, 2025: 1.
