This video features the elusive Aye-Aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis), one of the rarest lemurs in the world, found only in Madagascar. Filmed at night in its natural habitat, the footage shows an adult Aye-Aye moving through the forest canopy, jumping from tree to tree with agility and precision.

The Aye-Aye is a nocturnal species known for its unusual features: large reflective eyes adapted to darkness, oversized ears for detecting insects inside wood and its characteristic elongated middle finger, which it uses to tap on tree bark and extract larvae – a unique feeding method called percussive foraging.

Because of habitat loss and long-standing local myths, the Aye-Aye is considered endangered. This video captures a rare look at this extraordinary primate in the wild, behaving naturally under the cover of night.

If you enjoy wildlife, lemurs, or the unique biodiversity of Madagascar, this is a species unlike any other.
