Nine-months pregnant mother hides bump only to be kicked off plane for breaking flight rule
A mother-to-be hid her pregnancy but was later kicked off a plane for breaking flight rules.
The traveller reportedly did not disclose that she was nine months pregnant when she booked a ticket from Chengdu Airport to Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport in China on November 10.
Upon boarding the Tibet Airlines flight on Monday, she informed the crew of her actual gestational age of 36 weeks and requested ‘special care' during the journey.
Witnesses said the mum-to-be also demanded that the airline take responsibility if anything happened to her while in the air.
Due to aviation safety regulations, the passenger was asked to disembark, but she and her husband refused to comply, causing a significant delay.
After repeated requests for her to leave went unanswered, airline staff called the police to intervene.
Footage captured inside the Airbus A320 shows crew members and emergency responders speaking with a man believed to be her husband as passengers watched the tense exchange unfold.
Tracking data shows flight TV9975 was scheduled to depart at 5:15 pm but took off at 6:46 pm - more than an hour late.
Under China's aviation policy, women who are 36 weeks pregnant or more are prohibited from flying, while those between 32 and 35 weeks must present a medical certificate confirming that they are fit to travel.
The couple were eventually escorted off the aircraft, and the flight landed safely around an hour later than its scheduled 7:20 pm arrival time.
