This is the dramatic moment a family fled as an earthquake shook their home in the Philippines.

Daphne Arche and her family were playing a mobile game in a bedroom while a toddler slept in her crib when a 3.3-magnitude tremor struck Tabogon, Cebu, on November 9.

CCTV footage shows the father leaping into the netted crib to grab the sleeping baby before they rushed outside to safety at around 10:40 pm local time.

Daphne said: 'All we had in mind during the earthquake was the baby before we ran out of the house. Although it was wrong to panic, the trauma made us react that way. Thank God our home was not damaged and no one was hurt.'

On September 30, Cebu experienced a 6.9-magnitude earthquake that reportedly killed at least 53 individuals and injured 147 others.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) confirmed the tremor, which was centred 21 kilometres northeast of Bogo City, Cebu, at a shallow depth of 5 kilometres. The quake was tectonic in nature.

Extensive structural damage was reported across the region, with several buildings either partially or entirely destroyed.

The city of Bogo and several nearby towns and municipalities have since declared a state of calamity.

Officials said 11,835 aftershocks, ranging in magnitude from 1.4 to 4.8, had been recorded as of October 13.

Phivolcs Director Dr Teresito Bacolcol told local media recently: 'We expect more aftershocks in the coming days. In some cases, these can continue for several weeks.'

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands within the Pacific Ring of Fire, where most of the Earth's volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur.
