6. VARIOUS OF SMOKE RISING JEZZINE, LEBANON - NOV. 11, 2025: Bkassine Forest, located in the southern Lebanese town of Jezzine and considered one of the largest pine forests in the Middle East, faces a serious threat due to fires sparked by Israeli attacks, on Tueasday, Nov. 11.

The fires broke out after Israeli drones dropped incendiary and explosive munitions on southern Lebanon.

Bkassine Forest is not only one of Lebanon’s rare environmental treasures but also a prominent natural and touristic landmark. Experts warn that any damage to the forest would result in significant environmental and economic losses for the country.

Tensions have been mounting in southern Lebanon for weeks, with the Israeli army intensifying near-daily air raids inside Lebanese territory on claims of targeting Hezbollah members and infrastructure.

The Israeli army has killed more than 4,000 people and injured nearly 17,000 in its attacks on Lebanon, which began in October 2023 and turned into a full-scale offensive in September 2024.

Under the ceasefire, the Israeli army was supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon this January, but it only partially pulled out and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
