Huesca, Spain - November 09, 2025 A 30-year-old French climber was rescued by helicopter on Sunday afternoon after falling while ascending a route on the Adamelo Ridge in the mountains of northern Spain. The accident occurred in the Mallos de Riglos area, a well-known climbing site in the Pre-Pyrenees of Huesca. The woman struck the rock face and suffered an ankle sprain, which prevented her from continuing the climb on her own. The rescue was carried out by the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) of Huesca, supported by the Civil Guard Air Unit and a 061 emergency doctor who were dispatched to the scene. After locating the injured climber, rescuers descended to her position, immobilized her injured leg, and lifted her by helicopter to a safe area near her vehicle. She did not require hospital transport. This was not the first rescue of the year in the region. In February, GREIM agents aided a 22-year-old hunter who suffered a severe leg injury in the nearby Santa María de la Peña area and was flown to Monflorite Airport before being taken to San Jorge Hospital in Huesca. The Mallos de Riglos, famous for their towering cliffs and challenging routes, attract climbers from around the world. The Civil Guard urged mountaineers to plan their activities carefully and take precautions due to changing mountain conditions.
