This is the amusing moment a bear was spotted swimming at a port in Japan.

Passing locals in a car saw the wild bruin wandering around the pier in Mutsu, Aomori, on October 28.

The curious residents followed the creature and watched as it leapt into the water to cross to the other side of the port.

Footage shows the bear swimming with its head above water while its paws paddled beneath the surface.

The filmer said: 'I know that bears can swim, but it was my first time seeing one.'

Bears are strong swimmers, capable of crossing rivers, lakes, and even coastal waters to search for food, mates, or new territory.
