According to an Anadolu correspondent on the ground, the construction of the wall is underway opposite the town of Marun al-Ras in the Bint Jbeil area of southern Lebanon. Israeli military vehicles and tanks were deployed along the border during the operation.

The ground activity coincided with a new series of air raids. Israeli fighter jets hit the southern towns of Mahmoudiyeh, Jabal al-Rafi', and Jarmaq in the Nabatieh district, the Lebanese state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported. Similar strikes targeted the areas of al-Qatrani, Barghaz, and al-Rihan in the same district.

Tensions have been mounting in southern Lebanon for weeks, with the Israeli army intensifying near-daily air raids inside Lebanese territory on claims of targeting Hezbollah members and infrastructure.

The Israeli army has killed more than 4,000 people and injured nearly 17,000 in its attacks on Lebanon, which began in October 2023 and turned into a full-scale offensive in September 2024.

Following last year's war with Hezbollah, Israel was expected to withdraw from Lebanese territory. However, it has maintained forces in several border posts and has stated it will not withdraw unless the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement is disarmed.

In recent weeks, Israel has intensified its airstrikes on southern Lebanon and parts of the east, near the border with Syria.
