LONDON, UK - NOV. 14: A 41-gun salute resonated through London on Friday to mark the 77th birthday of Britain's King Charles III.

The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery carried out the traditional salute in Green Park, while the Honourable Artillery Company performed a simultaneous 62-gun salute at the Tower of London.

Adding to the celebrations, the bells of Westminster Abbey were rung at 1 p.m. local time in honor of the monarch.

King Charles III, the eldest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, was born at Buckingham Palace at 9:14 p.m. on Nov. 14, 1948. He was the heir apparent to the throne from birth until his accession in September 2022 following the death of his mother.
