US, Los Angeles: Elysian Valley Firefighters Battle House Fire With Nearly-Naked Man Barricaded In Tree
Los Angeles, United States - November 14, 2025 11/14/2025 02:14 am GMT-0800 ELYSIAN VALLEY, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A dramatic early morning blaze in the Elysian Valley neighborhood forced firefighters to intervene not only on a burning home but also in the unexpected rescue of a man wearing only underwear barricaded in a tree. Los Angeles City Fire crews were called to a fire in the 2300 block of Fernleaf Street shortly before 2:15 a.m., when flames were already visible through the roof of a one-story single-family dwelling. On arrival, firefighters found heavy fire showing through the attic and roof structure. The blaze was knocked down after 27 minutes of work by 38 firefighters. While no occupants were located inside the burned structure, a man wearing only underwear was found in a tree above the fire scene. The man refused to climb down, prompting an Urban Search & Rescue response to safely remove him from the tree. The scene remained active as of approximately 3:17 a.m. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation by LAFD Arson and the Los Angeles Police Department. Red Cross was notified to provide aid to displaced occupants due to heavy fire damage, and the building’s structural integrity was being assessed by the city’s Building & Safety department.
