Auburn, United States - November 05, 2025 Fire crews responded to a house fire on Perry Street in Auburn around 4 p.m. Wednesday, where one man was rescued from the home. An Auburn police officer and a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office deputy helped the occupant escape through a first-floor window. The man and the officer were both assessed by Auburn City Ambulance personnel. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control. They used three hose lines to extinguish most of the flames in about 10 minutes, after a second alarm was requested upon their arrival. Fire investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the affected occupants. While crews were tackling the Perry Street fire, a second blaze was reported in a kitchen on North Division Street. Responding companies handled that incident quickly.
