8. PROTESTERS CHANTING AND HOLDING SIGNS (TWO SHOTS) MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - NOV. 15: Twenty people were injured during a protest in Mexico City on Saturday, November 15, after clashes erupted between police and demonstrators responding to a call by a group identifying itself as “Gen Z.”
According to national media, thousands gathered at Angel of Independence and marched toward National Palace.
Police intervened with tear gas and fire extinguisher sprays as protesters struck barriers with stones and hammers. Many participants were detained during clashes.
Students, farmers, opposition representatives and citizens joined protest, criticizing years of violence and insecurity linked to organized crime.
Demonstrators also protested killing of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo, who was shot during Festival of Light on November 1, 2025.
Participants said security issues persisted despite government changes and called for victims of violence not to be forgotten.
President Claudia Sheinbaum said Gen Z protests were politically influenced by opposition groups and claimed demonstrations were manipulated.
