A runaway horse sparked panic when it wandered into a beauty salon in Brazil.

The grey mare sent staff and customers fleeing when it barged into the shop in Teresina's Mocambinho neighbourhood on November 11.

CCTV footage shows the animal strolling in as several terrified women fled screaming.

The nag then planted itself in front of a full-length mirror to stare at its reflection.

Two men arrived to drag her outside, but it refused to budge until employees, armed with a broom, managed to drive it away.

Salon owner Marine Oliveira said the unexpected guest had slipped in moments after staff opened the doors to ventilate the room.

She said: 'People in the neighbourhood said the horse was running scared down the avenue.

'Everyone ran to the back or out into the street. I never imagined going through something like this. When I saw it, I couldn't believe it.'

The horse continued walking down the avenue following the incident. Local media reported there was no information about its owner.
