Storyline: China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) is welcoming a surge of visitors during the 15th National Games, as the city taps into the combined momentum of sports and tourism while highlighting its cultural charm and Greater Bay Area connectivity. Jointly hosted by Guangdong Province, Hong Kong SAR, and Macao SAR from Nov. 9 to 21, the National Games marks the first time competitions are staged across all three regions of the Greater Bay Area. At the main Press Center, a cultural experience area showcases the rich heritage of Macao, offering journalists a glimpse into the city's traditions while covering the event. "During the National Games, we set up some cultural booths in places such as the main Press Center to showcase Macao's intangible cultural heritage. We also launched a special city cultural tour for all participants of the National Games, hoping that everyone can experience the charm of Macao through this tour," said Lou Ho Ian, director of the Macao Museum. Macao is also embracing a "sports plus tourism" model during the National Games, welcoming athletes, spectators, and international visitors with cultural experiences and scenic charm. "We are from Malaysia to watch the table tennis competition at the National Games. This is my first time here, and I want to see what's fun in Macao, and I found the scenery here is very beautiful," said a tourist from Malaysia. To enrich the National Games experience, the Macao SAR government has rolled out large-scale events and a food festival, blending culture, sports, and tourism into a vibrant celebration for residents and visitors alike. "The atmosphere during the National Games is vibrant, attracting a substantial influx of visitors to Macao.
