Passengers stunned when plane tyre explodes on runway
Passengers were alarmed when a plane tyre exploded on a runway.
The aircraft was landing at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, when one of its tyres burst on Sunday evening.
Footage shows the Boeing 737-800, registered HS-LGI, touching down on the tarmac before the tyre gave out, leaving the jet stranded on runway 21R.
No passengers or crew on Thai Lion Air flight SLS545, which departed from Chiang Rai International Airport, were injured.
However, airport officials said the runway had to be closed, causing flight disruptions and delays as only runway 21L was left available.
The airlines arranged shuttle buses to transport all passengers safely to the terminal.
Staff said they were working to remove the aircraft and restore normal air traffic as quickly as possible.
