“The rain came down on us and everything, our blankets, our bedding, was soaked. Our situation is terrible. My children were martyred, and we were displaced. Only God knows what we are going through.

We tried to keep the children warm, but the cold was unbearable, and they shivered all night. This is only the beginning of winter, and we have no idea how we will survive the coming months. Our shelter is nothing but a piece of cloth, and there is no one to help us. What can I say? The roof leaks, everything around us is exposed, and we are left here with nothing.

The children woke up terrified in the middle of the night when the cold winds and rain hit the tent. They didn’t even have time to put on clothes or grab anything. What are they supposed to do? What can we do? Everything is in God’s hands. Honestly, there’s nothing more to say.

This is the reality we are living in. It is extremely difficult for the children very difficult. They woke up frightened, unable to find warm clothes or even something to cover themselves with.”

7. VARIOUS OF MAKESHIFT TENTS ON SHORE DEIR AL-BALAH, PALESTINE - NOV. 17, 2025: Displaced Palestinian families sheltering along the coastline west of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza are struggling to withstand heavy rain and cold weather sweeping the area.

With Israel blocking the entry of tents and mobile shelters, families facing severe shortages of proper housing are trying to cope in makeshift shelters that have been flooded by persistent rainfall.

The harsh conditions, combined with inadequate shelter, have further worsened the already dire humanitarian situation.

Fatima Abdel Nabi, an elderly Palestinian woman living with her family in a makeshift tent by the sea, said the rain has soaked their sleeping area, leaving them unable to manage as winter sets in.

"The children woke up terrified in the middle of the night when the cold winds and rain hit the tent. They didn’t even have time to put on clothes or grab anything. What are they supposed to do? What can we do?," the poor woman asked.

According to Palestine’s official news agency WAFA, the Palestinian Meteorological Department reported that Gaza has come under a cold wave accompanied by heavy rains and thunderstorms.

Authorities say Israel is violating the humanitarian protocol of the ceasefire agreement reached last month by blocking the entry of shelter materials such as tents and mobile homes.

Phase one of the ceasefire deal, based on US President Donald Trump's 20-point plan, includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisages the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.

Israel has killed more than 69,000 people, mostly women and children, in Gaza since October 2023 and reduced it to rubble.
