The Burmese junta launched a bombing campaign on a notorious scam compound in Myanmar.

Soldiers blasted the KK Park fraud centre, reportedly flattening more than 100 buildings in Myawaddy on November 10.

Footage shows residents being jolted by an explosion as the airstrikes were carried out near the Thai border.

Villagers said the bomb attacks sparked alarm as debris fell into Thai homes.

The Burmese junta said KK Park was a sprawling complex containing 148 buildings, including hotels, warehouses, entertainment venues, a hospital, fitness centres, a stadium, and a market.

Forty-seven more buildings were left standing after the bombing on Monday, it added.

Since the crackdown, around 1,440 suspected scam workers have fled into Thailand, including 465 Indian nationals, 270 Africans, 220 Filipinos, and 187 Chinese. All were awaiting deportation under Thai immigration law.

Compounds near the Thai-Myanmar border have become hubs for internet fraudsters running romance and business scams, a situation that intensified due to Myanmar's weak regulation following the 2021 coup.

A widely reported crackdown earlier in February led to the repatriation of around 7,000 workers and prompted Thailand to impose a cross-border internet blockade.
