GAZA, PALESTINE - NOVEMBER 18, 2025: Gaza’s Civil Defense teams are pressing ahead with dangerous operations across the Gaza Strip, navigating buildings shattered by months of Israeli bombardment and working under the constant threat of collapsing concrete and falling debris.
In Gaza City’s Nasr neighborhood, crews are carrying out painstaking, controlled debris-removal efforts with severely limited resources amid the massive destruction caused by Israel over two years of genocide.
According to the latest data from the Gaza Media Office, the Israeli genocidal attacks have destroyed 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, with initial losses estimated at around $70 billion. The data shows that Israel has destroyed 268,000 housing units completely, 148,000 severely, making them uninhabitable, and 153,000 partially.
At a press briefing on Monday, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric underscored the vast scale of destruction, noting that teams have “cleared 100,000 tons of debris since the ceasefire came into effect.” He added, however, that “nearly 58 million tons of debris and rubble remain across the Gaza Strip, and only half of that is currently accessible.”
The Gaza Media Office also reports that 1.5 million Palestinians remain displaced across besieged enclave, living in catastrophic conditions with limited access to basic necessities and severely restricted essential services due to the continuing blockade.
Israel has killed nearly 69,200 people and injured over 170,700, mostly women and children, in its genocide in Gaza since October 2023 and reduced the enclave to rubble.
