Footage shows illegal Israeli settlers attempting to enter Al-Aqsa compound in East Jerusalem

VARIOUS OF ISRAELI POLICE CLASHING WITH ILLEGAL ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS ATTEMPTED TO ENTER AL-AQSA MOSQUE / POLICE REMOVING ILLEGAL SETTLERS FROM COURTYARD OF AL-AQSA MOSQUE / PIGEONS IN BAGS FOR SACRIFICIAL PURPOSES OF ORTHODOX JEWISH SETTLERS JERUSALEM - NOV. 18: Footage by Anadolu showed illegal Israeli settlers attempting to enter the Al-Aqsa compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The incident unfolded as the settlers ran into the courtyard of the mosque complex, triggering a brief chase with security personnel.
The video captured settlers rushing across the courtyard while security guards pursued them.
Individuals detained inside the compound were escorted out under the supervision of Israeli police.
The footage also showed settlers attempting to bring live pigeons into the site in a cloth bag, drawing attention at the scene.
The Al-Aqsa compound is administered by the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, in line with the peace treaty signed between Jordan and Israel on Oct. 26, 1994.
Since 2003, Israelis have entered the compound without the Waqf’s approval under police escort, a practice the Waqf describes as a “raid” and an infringement on Muslim authority over the site.
Israeli excavations have also taken place beneath the compound—which includes the Qibla Mosque, the Dome of the Rock, museums, madrasas and a large courtyard—under the claim that remnants of the biblical Temple of Solomon lie below.
Israeli authorities say they maintain the historical status quo that allows only Muslims to worship at the site while followers of other religions may visit.
Footage in recent years has shown extremist Jewish groups entering the compound under police protection to perform prayers and religious rituals, drawing criticism from the Waqf administration.
