US, Los Angeles: Downey Driver Trapped In Car Under Semi-Trailer On Northbound 5 Freeway
Los Angeles, United States - November 19, 2025 11/19/2025 12:01 am GMT-0800 DOWNEY, Calif. – California Highway Patrol from the Santa Fe Springs Station and the Downey Fire Department, along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Urban Search and Rescue team, responded to a traffic collision on the northbound 5 Freeway at Lakewood Boulevard in Downey. The incident involved a vehicle trapped beneath a semi-trailer. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life and a tow truck to lift the trailer and free the driver, who was then transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. The driver of the semi was evaluated by firefighters on the scene but declined transportation. Authorities are still investigating whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. During the incident, CHP had only the number one lane open for northbound traffic.
