Congress Votes to Release Epstein Records After Trump Reverses Position. The U.S. Congress voted almost unanimously on Tuesday to release Justice Department files on the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, following President Donald Trump's sudden shift from opposing the measure. The House passed the resolution 427-1, and the Senate quickly approved it, sending it to Trump for his expected signature. The vote came as survivors of Epstein's alleged abuse called for transparency, holding photos of themselves as children during a press conference outside the Capitol. The Epstein scandal has long been a political headache for Trump, whose past friendship with Epstein has drawn scrutiny from voters and the media. Despite his change of position, Trump continues to insist he had no involvement in Epstein's crimes, calling questions about the matter a "Democratic hoax." The resolution also caused tensions with Trump ally Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who defied pressure from the president and voted in favor, calling it a matter of patriotism.
