China will unwaveringly support the ongoing 30th United Nations climate change conference, commonly known as COP30, in achieving practical outcomes, said Liu Zhenmin, China's special envoy for Climate Change. The COP30, which kicked off in Brazil on Monday and will run through Nov 21, brings together representatives from nearly 200 countries and regions. It aims to forge solutions needed to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Delegates will also present new national action plans known as the Nationally Determined Contributions, and brief on the progress on finance pledges made at COP29. The special envoy said that the U.S. absence from the conference has produced a series of negative impacts. He stressed that China will remain committed to assisting Brazil in advancing the smooth progress of the conference. Shotlist: Belem, Brazil - Recent: 1. The difficulty lies in the fact that the United States is absent from the climate change conference for the first time. Firstly, the absence of the U.S. affects the integrity of the multilateral cooperation process on climate change. As a superpower and the largest developed country, its absence has a clear impact on the integrity of climate multilateral cooperation. Secondly, it affects coordination among developed countries." This means that it will be quite challenging to achieve a good outcome document at this conference. Our Chinese delegation will, as always, work steadfastly with the Group of 77 to promote the negotiations at this conference and assist the Brazilian presidency in reaching a successful outcome. China is unwavering on these issues." [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE]; Belem, Brazil - Nov 6-7, 2025 6. Sign for COP30 [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE]; 7. Various of signs, COP30 participants.
