FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — A Fort Bend County Precinct 1 deputy is being praised for his calm, life-saving actions after helping a woman in mental crisis on an overpass Tuesday morning.

Deputy Terrence Greene responded around 10:30 a.m. to reports of a woman perched atop the SH 99 and FM 1093 overpass with one leg over the railing. Authorities said Greene approached her calmly, prevented her from jumping, and held her safely until the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Intervention Team arrived.

No injuries were reported, and the woman was taken for further assistance.

Officials urged anyone struggling with mental health challenges to reach out for support, noting that help is always available.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.
