This is the hilarious moment terrified youngsters cowered on the floor as a bat flew around a bedroom.

Frialyn Essie Divino was putting on her makeup in her room when she noticed the bamboo bat flying around in Lanao del Norte, the Philippines.

The girl opened the door in an attempt to let the animal fly out on its own, but it stayed inside, prompting Frialyn to call her boarder mates on November 19.

Footage shows Frialyn and her friends crouching on the floor, hiding under a black umbrella as they screamed and laughed in fear.

Moments later, the girl in a red polka-dotted dress stood up and used a blue plastic bag to capture the winged mammal, which was perched on a hanging white dress.

She then hurriedly walked outside to release the animal.

They did not sustain any injuries from the encounter.

Experts said that Bamboo bats, like most wild animals, are harmless and provide significant benefits to ecosystems by eating pests, pollinating plants, and dispersing seeds.

While generally harmless, bats can transmit diseases, such as rabies. This is a serious and potentially fatal illness, requiring immediate post-exposure treatment.
