This is the incredible moment an elusive serow was spotted on a wildlife camera in Thailand.

Footage shows the goat-like creature scaling an almost vertical cliff face to reach a salt lick at the Kaeng Krachan National Park in Phetchaburi province.

National park chief Mongkol Chaipakdee said rangers coordinated with the Wildlife Conservation Society to inspect camera traps on November 19.

He said the recordings showed 26 rare wildlife species, including leopards, black panthers, clouded leopards, various civets, different species of deer, and elephants, showing the park's biodiversity.

The park chief added: 'The discovery of a wide variety of wildlife on this occasion not only demonstrates the richness and abundance of the forest, but also reflects the completeness of the food chain.

‘This indicates that the ecosystem remains balanced and is able to maintain wildlife sustainably.'

Kaeng Krachan National Park was registered as a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2021 due to its remarkable biodiversity.

Park officials said they will use the recently collected data to plan for the efficient conservation and management of the area, adding patrols in the national park will also be intensified.
